Rock the Dock!

Updated: Aug 11, 2022

Calling all boaters, floaters, rowers, kayakers, and all other water sports-people alike! The new floating dock in Riverside Park, North Coventry Township is complete! The new dock, located at Schuylkill Ave in North Coventry Township (past the Quoit Club), provides improved access to the Schuylkill River. North Coventry received grants totaling over $100,000 from four funding sources to complete the project, including DCNR, the Schuylkill Highlands Mini-grant Program, the PA Fish & Boat Commission, and the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation. The small, stationary dock was demolished and replaced with a larger, durable floating dock. A paved pathway from the parking area to the dock was constructed by the township finished off the project.

“It was so amazing being able to board our dragon boat last night without stepping into the mucky river” said Rose Walters of the new dock. Rose is a veteran member of the Pottstown Dragon Warriors paddling team who won three gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals in the world dragon boat competition held in Thailand in 2019.

The old dock was damaged in a storm and was removed. The new floating dock is more durable, easier to maintain, and safer. The floating dock's size will better accommodate competitive rowers like the Pottstown Dragon Boat Club and rowing teams.

The Township formed a partnership with the Pottstown Dragon Boat Club to assist with the removal of the dock facility for the winter, fundraising and maintenance. Check back for updates on when the dock will be officially open to the public!!!
