Chestnut Street Park Redevelopment Begins

The Borough of Pottstown has another park improvement project in the works. The redevelopment of Chestnut Street Park is underway. This well-used neighborhood park is located at the northeast corner of Chestnut and Washington Streets in the center of the Borough and is just over a quarter-acre in size.

To make this project happen, the Borough was awarded a combination of grant funding from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' (DCNR) Community Conservation and Partnership Program and the Department of Community and Economic Development's (DCED) Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program. DCNR provided a $239,300 grant and DCED provided a $59,830 grant for park improvements. The park redevelopment project will consist of construction of a new paved ADA accessible path, installation of new play equipment, expansion of the open grassed play area, stormwater management upgrades and site amenities that include accessible benches, and new trash and recycle bins. The existing pavilion in the park will be reused.  The project is estimated to be complete by the end of summer.
