Three New Signal Box Murals Bring More Public Art to Pottstown

Another year, and even more signal box murals are adding color to the streets of Pottstown. Residents and visitors will soon notice three newly painted signal boxes at two busy intersections, each bringing their own unique style to the community.
At the corner of King Street and Route 100, two adjacent traffic signal boxes have been transformed by local artist Kayla Ackelson. These murals mark Kayla's third signal box mural project in the Borough, growing her artistic footprint throughout the community. The designs feature a vibrant abstract style, blending bright purples, blues, and pinks into swirling and block patterns that create a playful visual. The murals offer a colorful addition to one of Pottstown's busiest intersections.
Meanwhile, at the intersection of High Street and Beech Street, just outside of Dunkin' Donuts, local artist Nicole McGonigal is completing her first signal box mural project. Set against a bold blue background, the design showcases classic cars that celebrate Pottstown's long-standing tradition of car shows and old-school car cruises. The mural pays tribute to the community's automotive heritage while bringing new life to the streetscape.
Together, these three signal box murals highlight the continued growth of public art throughout Pottstown. As the projects near completion, they serve as another reminder of how local artists continue to shape and enhance the community's beauty. All funding for the project has been provided by a private donor.
