After being closed for improvements this year, South Street Park (447 South Street) has officially reopened, and the upgrades were well worth the wait. The playground has undergone a full redevelopment, bringing safer, more accessible, and engaging recreation opportunities to the neighborhood. New playground equipment was installed to improve safety and accessibility, making the park a more welcoming space for

families and the community and the paved paths were reconstructed.
The project was funded through a combination of local, state, and private funds. The Borough of Pottstown received an $85,200 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) through its Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2). Additional funding included $65,170 from the Department of Community and Economic Development's Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program (GTRP), $14,400 from Pottstown Parks and Recreation, a $60,000 match from the Pottstown Parks Capital Fund, $10,000 in private contributions, and an $8,000 grant from the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation, now the Pottstown Regional Community Foundation.
Construction has officially wrapped up, and South Street Park now offers an improved outdoor space that supports activity, community gathering, and recreational use for all ages.
