Montgomery County, working with Wilson Consulting and Flyway Excavating, has completed construction of the Schuylkill River Trail (SRT) into the Borough of Pottstown. Prior to the opening of the new segment, the SRT was completed through North Coventry Township crossing the Schuylkill River on the Route 422 bridge, terminating at the east end of the bridge, with a gap heading west to Industrial Highway. Now the SRT extends past the bridge, makes a loop, passes under the highway, and connects to the existing SRT along Industrial Highway in Pottstown Borough. The conceptual alignment map from 2024 is shown below.

Construction of the nearly one-mile segment cost $1.2 million. The project came in under budget and was supported by grants from DCNR and DVRPC, as well as funding from Montgomery County's capital funds. The new trail segment is open and already experiencing significant use.
