The Sprogel’s Run Trail located in Upper Pottsgrove Township has a new trailhead for even more access to the trail. The trailhead is located on the Schwenk Road Open Space Parcel and will serve Sussell Park, and in the future, trails to be developed within the Schwenk Open Space. The trailhead was partially funded through a $25,000 grant from the Pottstown Metropolitan Regional Minigrant Program/DCNR, with matching and in-kind funding from Upper Pottsgrove Township. The Sprogel's Run Trail is a combination of hiking and paved trail sections that runs between Sussell Park and Prout Farm Park.
Improvements at the trailhead include two paved, ADA accessible parking spaces, as well as a crushed stone path that leads north to Snyder Road. The Township also painted a crosswalk and added safety signage alerting drivers to the trail crossing that leads to Sussell Park. Additionally, by summer, a new entrance sign will also be installed at the trailhead.
