Development of the Schuylkill River Trail is underway in Chester County! The project includes the introduction of a four-mile paved section that will connect the existing trail, closing a big gap. The extension begins at the existing trail at Linfield Road in East Coventry Township. From here, the new trail section will connect to the new Route 422 Bridge crossing over the Schuylkill River, at the border of MONTCO. In addition to this extension, there will be a new trailhead parking lot as well as resurfacing of the existing trail from Linfield Road to the Phoenixville Borough line.
The trail will cross the Schuylkill River in Pottstown and connect to the existing Schuylkill River Trail, along Industrial highway. The trail section in Towpath Park, which is roughly 1/2 mile, is being paved now and will be 10 feet wide.
The Towpath section of the Schuylkill River Trail is being funded by DCNR Recreational Trail Funds.
The Chester County Commissioners are partnering with PennDOT, the DVRPC, the Schuylkill River Greenways, and the Circuit Trails Coalition to make the extension of the SRT possible.
